Arkham City has already been reviewed by me on Pixel Panda Arcade, so be sure to click the image below to read that review. This DLC takes place after that game ends, so be ready for some spoilers.

When I sit down to play any DLC for a story game, there is a lot I look for. Are the characters expanded on? How much content do we get? Was this worth my time? There is so much that goes through my head. Regardless of all of that, Harley Quinn’s Revenge comes with Return to Arkham City, and it is one of my favorite DLCs that I have ever played. Is it perfect? No. But it expands on the world, characters, and content in a way that I find satisfying. The first time I beat this, I did so in 3 hours, so let’s dive right in.

Robin feels so good to play and watch. They did a great job setting him apart from Batman.

Harley Quinn’s Revenge features Robin, who is trying to figure out what happened to Batman. Oracle and Robin discuss how Batman might be feeling after the death of the Joker and after Talia was murdered. If you’re expecting to see Batman’s emotions during the game, you can stop expecting that because it won’t happen. The game keeps it a tease, which is fine by me because I had always assumed that he swallowed the guilt and was forcing himself to live with it.

Robin feels fantastic to play as, his bo-staff functions as both a weapon and a shield. The shield gameplay is so fun, and the sound effects when it’s deflecting bullets are extremely satisfying. You can also use this shield to block hot air coming out of pipes, and there is a shield bash for combat situations.

Batman went off to find a bunch of police officers who were kidnapped by Harley: You’ll notice that she is a little more nuts. She is grieving the Joker, and as a side note, what I found especially interesting is the multiple negative pregnancy tests you find when you first start playing as Batman.

There are tons of these tests all over this room.

The game will have you flipping back and forth because Batman goes missing while searching for the police who have been taken. I find that the swaps between characters were done well and are not jarring. I preferred to play Robin because of his weapon, animations, and the bits of the relationship between him and Oracle that we got to experience.

I won’t spoil the ending here, but the DLC is well worth your time. The ending was a little poor, but the DLC itself was still fun, and as a packaged experience, it is well worth your time to play. I was pleasantly surprised at how different Robin feels from Batman, and I think his character was nailed here.

Batman: Arkham City: Harley Quinn’s Revenge will be getting a Golden Token.

– This DLC is included in the Return to Arkham collection, so it is well worth your time to play.

– Robin feels better to control than he did in the challenge rooms. His personality is a nice change of pace from Batman.

– The ending is lackluster, and I feel as though a little time could’ve been taken to flesh out the ending.

– The combat, enemy variety, and narrative we did get were extremely fun and very engaging. Enemy variety was especially top-notch and prevented this from becoming a stale experience.
