Declan kickstarts everything in Operation: Monster Force, so he is an important figure. But before you buy him, be aware that he is on the normal side as far as figures go. Regardless, he has a strong build and great paint, so let’s dive right into this review.
Paint and Build
Declan has a fantastic paint job, especially around his face. His scar is beautifully painted on, and so is what looks like his 5 o’clock shadow. I love how serious this figure looks, and that is exaggerated by how expertly the sculpt of his face works.

Moving down, the vest is the real highlight of the chest area because his shirt is rather plain. Don’t let that fool you, though, because it still has an excellent sculpt around his forearm where his sleeves are rolled up. I love the details on the vest because of how the blacks and greys were used to make the pockets and the items inside of those pockets pop. His wrists are decorated with beautifully detailed tattoos, which have so much detail that I had to stop and examine his arms for a moment. Below all of this is a great-looking belt: Something that I have noticed with these figures is that the belts and shoes are always finally detailed, which I adore.
The pants are nothing special, but they do have the same good wrinkle sculpt as his arms. The highlight for me is his shoes, which once again are packed with detail. I love the little details, such as the shoe laces and subtle zigzag design elements.
Articulation
Declan had major articulation issues when I first popped him out of the box, which is why this review took so long.
I do not take points off for plastic being tough or stuck as long as I can fix it. The methods used to do this were a couple of drops of hot water to get the joints to bend. After that, I left his joints bent for a couple of days.
Declan has fine articulation. It’s nothing to write home about, but it is nothing to scoff at either. His hands bend and flex, his head tilts up and down, and he turns side to side completely. You can rotate his head and waste 360 degrees,+ which I would suggest playing with to get the figure to loosen up.
Accessories
This figure comes with closed hands, open hands, fists, and trigger hands. You get them in skin color and with gloves, which I love. The gloved hands are specifically well-detailed and really showcase the figure’s paint job.
He has a crossbow bow which is the best weapon I have gotten in any of these packs so far. He also comes with a machine gun with a knife on the end, a pistol, and tons of attachments for his armor.
Score
I don’t have much else to say about this figure. But here we go with the score!

- Well-painted figure.
- Great weapons that have not broken on me yet.
- Simple figure, but they didn’t skimp on any of the details.
