Introduction

Despite having a near-perfect premise, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl feels completely soulless. It is such a shame because they built the perfect skeleton for this game.

What went Wrong?

The gameplay is solid for what it is; they could fix my issues with the game feeling clunky. The biggest thing that went wrong with this game is the lack of good sound effects, online play, and music.

Polish: The least of my problems with this game.

The game needs polish across most animations; everything starts to feel the same. The maps need work, too; they move and have life! Like Smash, they do not have the same level of time and care.

Lack of voice acting is creating a silent game!

The lack of voice acting, sound effects, or even grunting is making this game feel like it fell out of the uncanny valley. They have such a diverse roster, and it is bizarre that no one grunts. 

The announcer sounds like he hates his job, and he for sure needs more life. This game desperately needs voice acting, even if they start to bring it in slowly. Not being able to hear SpongeBob is truly sad.

The online play is currently dead

Online play is dead, and the ranked system needs tweaking. I feel bad for running into a new player and wiping the floor with them, but neither of us has many options. Skill-based matchmaking would be my number one suggestion if the player base weren’t so low.

My solution

Make this game free to play! I wouldn’t care if they had to sell cosmetics for characters, either. A free-to-play game would boost the player numbers and get the studio the money they need to get voice actors. 

I would also like to work on some of the animations and bring some of the characters to life in better ways. Korra would benefit from a complete move set overhaul.
