Your map is one of your most important tools. My map will be much more filled out, but these tips remain the same regardless. Make sure you check back here often because this is where the GATE Compendium is located, as well as all of your objectives and hints on where to find items. Hovering over any one of these map icons will tell you what items can potentially be found in that area. Any “?” icons will eventually change their icon design when you find that location.

Your map will look more like this when you start the game for the first time.
It will grow as you progress the game.

Your map will be littered with circles eventually, but the important thing right now is that each one of these circles can be clicked. Here you can see what my office sector notes look like. Do not zoom in on this if you don’t want spoilers. You can scroll around on here, and as you collect maps, you can click the maps on the right-hand side.

If you’re ever lost this is a good place to check.

You’ll be backtracking quite a bit, so trying to remember the layout will be key to getting around fast. For this playthrough, I built in the Cafeteria because of the kitchen and bathroom access. You should also note that all roads seem to lead back to the Plaza, but that doesn’t mean you won’t want pop-up bases. And in general, it is good to set up a base in a spot you enjoy.

As you grab more maps you’ll be able to zoom in like this. The facility is also covered in navigation signs and labels.
