The Scholastone Institute is one of my favorite locations in Crimson Desert so far. I love the architecture, the atmosphere, and the mystery. So for today’s location exploration, we are diving into the Scholastone Institute.

The ceiling design of the Scholastone Institute still makes my brain itch in a good way.

Introduction

The Scholastone Institute is located southwest of the Witchwoods. It is best to access this location using the correct entrance at the bottom of the cliffs because you’ll learn a new skill. There are other notable locations in this area, most of which I’ll cover later. The mountain ranges of the Black Forest conceal many secrets and history.

About

Troll scholars founded the Scholastone Institute. It was once dedicated to studying the knowledge of all things in the world. By the time we reach the location, however, they have intensified research into the Abyss. Despite most of its members being trolls, anyone with a true scholarly curiosity is welcome to attend regardless of race. Interestingly, it was trolls who founded Scholastone, but they clash with the Kharonso Troll Alliance.

This Institute is the premier institute on the continent of Pywel. There are many notable locations on the grounds, which I will now dive into.

Who is Grundir?

Grundir is the dean of the Scholastone Institute. He is driven by his passion for exploration and contemplation. He is friends with Alustin, but their ideologies tend to clash. The reason for this clash is that Grundir believes that the power of the Abyss should be made safe and accessible for everyone. A notion that I strongly disagree with.

Notable Locations

These locations should appear directly in your knowledge tab when you unlock them.

As you enter the Scholastone Institute, you will pass the Supply Tent, which supplies visitors, or at least it did. We are told that Visitors are dwindling because of the Bleed Bandits.

The Scholastone Archive is where they keep their records. We are told that it documents and preserves every detail and record.

The Kilnden Workshop is operated by dwarves who craft special cauldrons using an ancient skillset.

Notable People

The following information was compiled from a questline where you must find who stole an important book from the library.

Raphael Bartro is the finance manager of the institute. He wears a long, dark brown coat and a Scholastone hat.

Grunil specializes in ancient civilization research. He is an expert in ancient languages and the interpretation of ancient ruins. He wears a necklace that flickers with light. We are told that he complains often.

Anselmo is the guard captain. He is in charge of security and does his job well enough. He has a thick beard and wears a Scholastone hat.

Tarho is an outsider. He was dispatched from outside the institute to collaborate on research. He is referred to as the external alchemist.

Javier is the assistant librarian. Little is known about him.

Funny enough, there will actually be a trader here that let’s you do research. I found that pretty interesting. It’s on the more expensive end of things, though.
